Outline of Balwadi Activities

Mrs. Seema Patil, Vice President read out the Annual Report of Sushil Balwadi.

The school’s strength is now fifty two. Principal Purnima Rao had to tender her resignation to tend to her ailing mother and father-in-law. We hope that she will soon be able to resume her duties after her family’s health improves.
The dedicated teaching staff and servers under the guidance of Mrs Patil and Mrs Vandana Kumar, continue their exemplary work.
Text books and uniforms were distributed among all students. As is practice, two sets are given to new students and one set to the old students.

Cadbury’s India Ltd conducted an environment and water conservation programme for the children and their parents. All festivals and National Day celebrations took place.

Workshops and programmes for moral, creative and academic enhancement were conducted by various agencies.
Medical camps were held for the children and their parents. For the young mothers talks on family planning, AIDS awareness and gynaecological problems. An interesting talk on’ Psychological development of children’was given.Good health and nutrition was also a topic for discussion, for the parents organised by Dr. Diggikar In the Balwadi Medical camp, an annual event, children were checked for various ailments. Those whoneeded treatment were referred to JJ Hospital. Vitamin B. comples, Calcium and tonics were distributed. Thanks are rendered to all the doctors an members who actively participated.

Various festivities celebrated have been sponsored by various members who have donated generously. The Annual day celebration was also a sponsored event, with generous donations from a few members.

The children paid homage to the Late President of IASOWA, Mrs Sneha Prem Kumar. Mrs Prem Kumar had been associated closely with the Balwadi since the early 1980’s. Also, for ten years, she was Member in charge of the Balwadi. Her daughters Smita and Namita have contributed to financial assistance of the Balwadi, in memory of their mother.  

Donations and sponsorship for various programmes and the mid-day meal scheme are welcome.
 
 
The Annual Day of the Balwadi School was held on 30th January, 09. The President Mrs. Reena Joseph, Mrs. Seema Patil, Mrs. Anjana Kshatriya, Mrs. Madhavi Singh and Mrs. Vandana Kumar were the Office bearers present. Mrs. Kanga, Mrs. Naik , Mrs. Nair, Ms. Prem Kumar and ex-Principal Mrs. Rao were among the guests.

The Children put up a small show which was appreciated by all. Every child was presented with a school bag. Prizes were distributed among the deserving ones. Mrs Seema Patil, Vice president, who devotes time and energy to the running of the Balwadi, addressed the gathering and thanked all the donors who generously contribute to the mid-day meal as well as other programmes of the school.

Late Mrs. Prem Kumar's daughters Smita and Namita donated Rs. 9000/- and declared an annual contribution thereafter towards the Balwadi in memory of their mother.

The Balwadi had the annual picnic at the Hanging gardens in February.

The pilot project of the Association, the Balwadi, is the pride of the vicinity and now has an English module. With the unstinted efforts of the Vice president Mrs. Seema Patil and Principal Mrs. Purnima Rao, the children are nurtured in a congenial, healthy informative environment for three hours a day. The teachers and helpers put in their best, as do benefactors.
